Sleep: are you doing it all wrong?

February 24, 2016

These days, you’ll be hard pressed to pick up a magazine or scroll through the internet without the topic of sleep being addressed. And with today’s manic lifestyle, it’s no wonder sleep is on everyone’s mind. Despite sleep being a basic necessity for life, we as a society aren’t getting enough of it, and what’s more is that we need to learn how to do it properly. While we hope coffee and green juices might get us through those days that begin at 6 and end around midnight, a lack of zzz’s will eventually catch up with everyone. Training hard for an upcoming 5k, half-marathon or even an ultra? No matter the distance, you won’t be able to push as hard if you are logging the miles but scrimping on sleep. And sleep is no joke when it comes to an athlete’s performance. The Real Madrid football team employed sleep coaches to track each athlete’s sleep schedules. Think that’s… Read more »

The rise of Athleisure fashion

February 11, 2016

The last two years of my life have been lived largely in “athleisure” fashion.

February 8, 2016

These two acronyms are your tickets to a fitter you. The secret? They are quick and efficient and essentially variations of HIIT workouts with two very different focuses.

Rowing WOD: seminars and training with Olypmian rower Cam Nichols

February 2, 2016

The other week I joined in on an 101 Rowing WOD seminar with Men’s Eight Double World Silver Medallist and former Team GB Olympic rower Cam Nichol. And whether you’ve never strapped into a rower before, or you’ve had some experience and are looking to take your rowing to the next level, I would highly recommend this seminar.

January 25, 2016

Tuck in with no remorse because passionate foodies such as Nicola Giles-Rowling are catering not just to your sweet tooth, but also to your health. I was lucky enough to meet this radiant newlywed and try some of her delicious treats. Read on to see what this gal had to say.

Stance socks: What’s everyone on about?

January 21, 2016

I started CrossFit in June of 2015 and, over the last few months, as I have found myself plummeting deeper and deeper down the CrossFit wormhole, I have begun to don some new activewear. Yeah, basically I copy all the cool kids at my CrossFit gym, hoping that one day I’ll complete 15.1 without even breaking a sweat.

Unit 27: CrossFit & Total Conditioning

January 11, 2016

“this is what heaven should be like” Adam Goff, CrossFit competitor On my recent fitness holiday to Phuket, Thailand’s iconic fitness street, I chose Unit 27 as the place I would spend most of my time when I wasn’t soaking up the sunshine. And let me just say, it simply doesn’t get much better than this place. Whether you are staying for just a week or 3 months, you will leave a happier and healthier version of yourself.

A very merry fitness holiday in Phuket, Thailand

January 6, 2016

What? Thailand’s iconic fitness street. Where? Phuket, Thailand. When? December 14-29 At the start of 2015, I wrote down a few fitness goals which included running my first half-marathon as well as going on a fitness holiday before the year was up. And while I did the former in March, come December I had yet to go on a proper “fitness” holiday. So, when my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to head to Thailand to train in Phuket’s well-known fitness street, it was a no-brainer. Training, sleeping, eating and sunshine? It sounded like the perfect way to close 2015 while jump starting my fitness goals for the new year.
