The overground is no longer the primary source of commotion when you’re walking past many of London’s railway arches. Instead, a mixture of clamorous noises rule the sound waves; think barbells dropping, people gasping for breath and music pumping amongst the reverberation of passing trains.
And it’s freaking delicious. Every six weeks, Buff Box and its team of nutritionists revamp its specially designed menu. And this isn’t done just to keep your taste buds happy. Besides tasting great, each meal is seasonally designed so that you receive the freshest ingredients available. Because Buff Box doesn’t only cater to your macro-nutrient requirements, they want to feed you the most ethically sourced and nutrient dense foods available.
It’s common knowledge. We tend to like when things are straightforward and simple. And while I like a challenge as much as the next person, there are times when being told what to do is the better option, especially when the person telling us what to do is an expert in their field.
Customised nutrition, great taste and convenience is what Jared Williams, the owner of Fresh Fitness Food, prides his four years young company on most. And within the Fresh Fitness Food offices, you’ll see tupperware containers strewn across desks as their nutritionists, marketing gurus and sales team type away at their desks or dash off to the kitchen to taste test the chef’s latest creation. It’s pretty obvious, the people behind Fresh Fitness Food are truly passionate about the food delivered to the 400+ London doorsteps and offices each day. How do I know this? After winning one of their Instagram competitions, providing me with a full week of their Paleo meal-plan, I discovered Fresh Fitness Food’s commitment to nutrition, taste and convenience first hand.
These days, you’ll be hard pressed to pick up a magazine or scroll through the internet without the topic of sleep being addressed. And with today’s manic lifestyle, it’s no wonder sleep is on everyone’s mind. Despite sleep being a basic necessity for life, we as a society aren’t getting enough of it, and what’s more is that we need to learn how to do it properly. While we hope coffee and green juices might get us through those days that begin at 6 and end around midnight, a lack of zzz’s will eventually catch up with everyone. Training hard for an upcoming 5k, half-marathon or even an ultra? No matter the distance, you won’t be able to push as hard if you are logging the miles but scrimping on sleep. “this is what heaven should be like” Adam Goff, CrossFit competitor On my recent fitness holiday to Phuket, Thailand’s iconic fitness street, I chose Unit 27 as the place I would spend most of my time when I wasn’t soaking up the sunshine. And let me just say, it simply doesn’t get much better than this place. Whether you are staying for just a week or 3 months, you will leave a happier and healthier version of yourself.
What? Thailand’s iconic fitness street. Where? Phuket, Thailand. When? December 14-29 At the start of 2015, I wrote down a few fitness goals which included running my first half-marathon as well as going on a fitness holiday before the year was up. And while I did the former in March, come December I had yet to go on a proper “fitness” holiday. So, when my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to head to Thailand to train in Phuket’s well-known fitness street, it was a no-brainer. Training, sleeping, eating and sunshine? It sounded like the perfect way to close 2015 while jump starting my fitness goals for the new year.
With health and fitness becoming of more and more importance in big cities where time is precious, meal delivery options have steadily made their way to our offices and homes in a big way. Companies such as Diet Chef, Fitness First and Detox Kitchen deliver weekly meal packages that cater to the active and health conscious individual, so it was only a matter of time before the paleo diet become readily available for the busy cave men and women of London. Cue, the PaleoChef.
Quick and dirty recipes. A weekly series of my escapades in the kitchen. I promise to make only the easiest of recipes that are both satisfying and nutritious.
My home away from home, Vero Beach Florida, was the perfect destination during the holidays to get away from the hustle of London life. There was plenty of sunshine to get your fill on, but there was one thing missing..the healthy eats found back in London town’s every corner.
